HUB PAGE ON HERBS

I've been trying to write a hub page on herbal useage in history this week, but I have been finding it difficult to concentrate. I find that if you haven't got a place and time were you arn't going to be disturbed, you will find it hard to come up with worth while content.

There has been some interesting controversy in this country this week with the truckies protesting againest the government introducing an increase in road user charges for the transport sector. So they took a leaf out of their european counterparts and put rolling blockades through our main cities for a couple of hours. It was quite a sight to see, and going by what I have heard from some of the drivers that come into work, this may not be the last. We might see an escalation of these tactics.

FREE [NO-MORE]

As you can probaly see this blog has no specific theme, I seem to ramble on about this and that every now and then. That is because I use this blog as a test site for idea's and sometimes to vent my spleen over some subject.

I have been trying to see what I can do without having to actually have to pay for something on the net, But I have decided to purchase my own site so I can expand, As my wife and I will be starting a website as a business and we want a bit more freedom of choice in what we can do,e.g. different pages-plugins-etc.

To acheive this end we applied for a creditcard the other week, but we were turned down. That I can't understand as we bring in a reasonable income each week and our out goings are not that great amount each week and they keep pushing their advertising down our throats.

So we have decided to go with plan B, A debit card,

This we will use online as well as have it as a seperate account and only have enough in there to cover small costs, but i'f we have to we can just deposit more funds- simple A.

I think I will keep this as a free site, just to play around with a few things , so if you are reading this and you have a pet peeve and want too here somebody elses veiws on it feel free to post a comment and I will do my best even if I have to research the subject if I feel I don't knbow enough.

CLEAN & GREEN [Yea Right]

Governments go on about the Kyoto Emissions protocol shcemes, but they don't seem to put their [OUR] money where their mouths are as they seem to be scared of either loosing their support from big companies with the almighty dollar, especially if they have a election looming & they think it could cost them their cushy job's.

These CARBON EMISSIONS SCHEMES that they have come up with that they say will cut emissions & benefit the average person are a load of CODSWALLOP. All it is going to acheive is it will drive up prices of every day items so far that people will have to go deeper into debt just to survive.

So I say to all governments ,PULL YOUR HEADS OUT OF YOUR COLLECTIVE REARS and do something constructive that will be a definate benefit to mankind instead of worrying wether you have offended someone & worrying on how you will justify your cushy job.

One possible solution that springs to mind is a way to cut vehicle emissions, &one possible solution is to take a leaf out of history.Adolf hitler took a chance & he produced the VW BEETLE
& look how that turned out lasting up to now. So why can't government's either band togethor or go it alone & produce a cheap vehicle {most likely a hybrid} & run a scheme where as your car reahes a certain age they let you either swap your car for a new hybrid or trade in your old one with a discount on a new one or payment plan.

They would have to look at the possibility of operating at either a loss or just break even, either way they will have a win win situation.

But in the end it will never happen because they are too occupied with covering their own rears and trying to justify their own existance. Because without getting their name in the media often polititions seem to disappear into the wood work, and so they come up with ridiculous and unworkable laws just to exist.

PC-ISM

PC-ISM or to use the correct term political correctness is what I call thje biggest load of codswallop that I have ever come across.

It is a term that actually means nothing, it is supposed to mean that you don't say or write something that is going to upset someone or a minority group. What I say to that is get hard because in this day and age there is no such thing as a minority as everyone is out for themselves.

I may sound cynical but just take some time and look around you especially if you live in a town or city. Everyone is looking for any way to get the advantage over every other person.

So what has happened to commen courtesy, is modern man so wrapped up in their own pathetic little world that they have to come up with these terms to either make themselves look important or justify their existence.

And as for politicions, 90% of them arn't worth the effort of even saying their names, because they just sit there in the debating chambers calling each other names when they should be discussing how to make the countries populations lives a lot easier and more full filling. what they also do is think up ridiculous new laws just to justify their exitence in government and to make it look like they are actually doing somework, when most of the time what they come up with 98% of the population say no to.

HITS OR PAGE VEIWS

It is quite interesting to check your referal section of your counter statistics, as I have just checked mine and found that out of the last 10 hits, 5 have been direct hits off the search engines, but the last 5 come from a comment I posted in www.entrepernurs-journey.com . A blog site owned by yaro starek.

So it just goes to show that if you want traffic to come to you , you have to go to them first , so people know that you exist at all.

Word of keyboard[ word of mouth] can also be effective as well, but for that to happen you have to have a following, no matter how big a following. You may only have 1 or 10 people who visit your site now and then, but if you post something of interest to someone and they let someone else know- I think the term is viral marketing- soon your traffic will see an increase.

As an exercise in word of keyboard lets try something,

Write a comment describing the most wackiest prank you pulled on one of your teachers at school and then tell two of your freinds to do the same and we will see how many hits occur in the next week. Leave your domain name or email so I can inform you of the results.

Have a go- THANKS .O.D.

WRITERS BLOCK

If your like me, a complete beginner at blogging and unless you have something your passionate about to write about ,you may experience writers block.

Writers block can be a hair tearing, nail biting experience for some, it is a very frustrating feeling to have. The way I deal with it is just to step back from the problem and do something else, something different and relaxing.

While I was cuising through the web the other day, I came across a delightful article on how to have constant content for your blog. So with no further ad-do read on further.

How to have a Constant Stream of Blogging Ideas
Writing Content 44 comments
This post on generating blogging ideas was contributed by Graham Jones from grahamjones.co.uk.
Most bloggers give up after a short while; even though there are millions of blogs online, few are updated regularly and most have been abandoned. The difference between success and failure in blogging is often down to persistence. But, when I speak at meetings about blogging, people often come up to me afterwards and say “Ah, yes, that’s all very well, but I run out of ideas after a while, so I can’t blog regularly”. So, how can you be sure of coming up with a constant stream of blogging ideas? How can you be certain that when you open your blogging software you will always have something to write?

If you think about your daily newspaper it does not have a choice. The number of pages is set by the amount of advertising space they sell. Each day, though, has varying amounts of news - some days, very little happens. But it would be no good the journalists filling up the first few pages and then printing a notice on all the others saying “if we’d been able to think of anything to write we would have put it here”. No matter how little is going on around them and no matter how much space they have to fill, newspapers simply have to fill the space allocated to them - plus they simply MUST do it before a specified time. The only way they can achieve this is to have a system.

Develop a blogging planning system
The first step in a journalistic system for blogging is having a plan for each month. Set up a spreadsheet, a table in a word processor, or a calendar on your desk - it doesn’t matter how you do this, but you need a monthly plan. On that plan you need to mark out the days you will definitely blog. This might be every day, just the weekdays, the weekends, every Wednesday - whatever works for you and your audience. Now you have a visual plan of what’s needed you can start filling in the blanks.

Journalists have two kinds of stories - diary stories and “off-diary” stories. Diary stories are those things you know will definitely happen - such as events, meetings, press conferences and so on. There are endless directories of events online and you will know of specific events on particular days in your industry. Mark your diary with these events as “diary items” you know you can write about. Also, look for anniversaries and specific days that could trigger a blog - this might be Thanksgiving Day, or Mother’s Day, or whatever can provide you with something to write about.

Diary stories should give you a reasonable number of days with topics already allocated to them over the coming weeks and months. Now you need to fill in the gaps. The way journalists do this is to have regular “slots”. So Monday might be health stories, Tuesdays could be business, Wednesdays are for politics -and so on. For your specialism, you need to come up with several general topic headings that you could write about. All you then do is slot these into the gaps between the diary stories.

Filling in your blogging plan
Once you have allocated particular diary stories to specific days and topic ideas to the other days, now you have to start being more specific about those “off diary” stories. All you have in your planning diary for these at the moment is the title of a topic. You could still be facing a blank screen if you don’t do any more planning. Here’s what to do.

Get a folder that has as many sections in it as you have topics. Now, subscribe to RSS feeds on those topics, or printed magazines, newsletters - anything that has info on those subjects. When you see something interesting - at any time - simply print it out, or tear it from the magazine and slot it into the appropriate section of your folder. Then forget it.

Writing your blog without having to think
You will now be in a position to always be able to write something for your blog. Simply look at your planning calendar and see the topic or diary item you need to write about. If it’s a diary item, you will already have a good idea as to what you are going to be saying or commenting on. If it’s an “off diary” topic, simply open your folder at the appropriate section, pull out all the papers in there and you will have a load of ideas that will trigger what you want to say.
Using a system like this enables newspapers and magazines to guarantee they will fill all their pages. You can adopt a similar system so that you will always have something to write about and will never face a blank screen wondering what on earth to say.

I know this may have been cheeky using this as the guts for my post. but I was suffering from writers block myself, plus the fact my step-daughter has just sold her place and had to moveout in a hurry, so there has been no time really to think about anything to write. So when I read this article I thought that this could be a good way to organise myself , so no matter what is going on around me I will always be able to write something.
